A Dhaka Court has framed charges against Obaidul Khan, an employee of a tailoring shop, for the killing of Willes Little Flower School and College student Suraiya Akther Risha.
Dhaka's Eighth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court fixed May 8 for recording witness deposition after indicting the lone accused on Monday.
Obaidul, a cutting master of a tailoring shop on the Elephant Road, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out to him.
Obaidul, who stalked 14-year-old Risha, stabbed her near her school in broad daylight on August 24 last year. She died three days later at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Risha's mother filed a case against Obaidul with Ramna police on the day her daughter was attacked. It was later turned into a murder case after the eighth grader died of stab wounds.
The complainant said Obaidul had stabbed her daughter after the latter refused the former's advances. The tailoring shop employee had got hold of Risha's number after the grade VIII student went to the shop several months before the incident to order new clothes.
Ramna police pressed charges against him on November 14 last year after finding murder evidence against Obaidul.
