According to the case filed with Banani police station on May 6, Shafaat, the son of Dildar Ahmed, one of the owners of Apan Jewellers, and his friend Nayeem Ashraf, the second accused, allegedly raped the two university students while Shafaat’s bodyguard held the girls at gunpoint at Raintree Hotel in Banani on March 28. Shadman had introduced the two girls to the rapists, and he was the one who convinced the two to visit Raintree Hotel that night, telling them they would be attending a birthday party.
