
Banani rape case accused Sadman Sakif has alleged that the law enforcers tortured him to give confessional statement before the court.
Sadman made the accusation during the case’s charge frame hearing at Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal 2 on Sunday.
He told the court of Judge Md Saiful Azam: “I did not give the confessional statement willingly. Police beat me up and made me to give the statement.
“I have filed writ petition to withdraw the statement.”
All the five accused— Shafat Ahmed, Nayem Ahsraf and Sadman, Shafat’s driver Billal Hossain and Rahmat Ali—were produced before the court during the hearing.

The court deferred the charge frame hearing till July 13 following a time petition filed by Nayem’s lawyer.
Two female university students filed a case with Banani police on May 6, alleging that they were raped at the Raintree Hotel on the night of March 28.
All of the accused have given confessional statements before the court.
