The Supreme Court has fixed October 5 for next hearing on the time petition over demolishing the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) building located at Hatirjheel in Dhaka.
Chamber Judge Justice Hasan Foyez Siddique set the date on Monday after hearing on a petition seeking one year to relocate the BGMEA headquarters.
The judge sent it to the full bench of Appellate Division for next hearing.
The 15-storey building stands on a critical spot in the capital, blocking the connection between two large water bodies – Hatirjheel lake and Begunbari canal.
In June 2016, the Appellate Division upheld a High Court verdict ordering the demolition of the structure and ordered the BGMEA to bear the cost of demolition.
On March 12, the Supreme Court accepted a BGMEA appeal for an extension and gave the association six more months, until September 11.
