The Appellate Division on Thursday stayed till October 3 the High Court order that stayed an order by the government to deduct five marks for second-time medical admission seekers.
The vacation chamber bench of Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed the order after hearing the appeal filed by the state seeking the stay order.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, who moved for the state, said that, on following this order, there is no bar to deduct five marks from the aggregate scores of the medical and dental college admission seekers.

Earlier on Tuesday, the High Court stayed an order on the government's decision to deduct the five marks.
Besides, the court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned why the government's decision to deduct the marks should not be declared illegal and unlawful.
Secretary of Health Ministry M Serajul Huq Khan, Director General Prof Abul Kalam Azad of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), and four others have been asked to respond to the rule within four weeks.
Advocate Eunus Ali Akond filed the petition with the HC on August 27 against the government's so-called discriminatory decision.
The entrance tests for MBBS and BDS courses under the 2017-18 academic session will be held on October 6 and November 10, respectively.
