
Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha has written to President Abdul Hamid informing that he, along with his wife, wants to stay in Australia from October 13 to November 10.
The chief justice, who is currently on vacation and residing at his official residence, sent the letter to the law ministry on Tuesday.
Secretary to the law ministry ASSM Zahirul Haque confirmed the receipt of the letter to the Bangla Tribune.
He said: “The chief justice wrote a letter to the president informing that he would stay outside the country from October 13 to November 10.
“In the letter, the chief justice mentioned his physical ailment and mental depression as the reason for his stay abroad.”
Earlier in October 2, a huge public outcry was sparked when the chief justice wrote to the president asking a one-month leave from October 3 to November 1.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha and his wife Sushoma Sinha have received Australian visas for three years. Their eldest daughter Suchona Sinha has currently been living in Australia.
The chief justice, who got appointed to his current position on January 17, 2015, is supposed to go on retirement on January 31, 2018.
