The High Court on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to Dhaka University law professor Asif Nazrul in two cases filed against him.
The division bench of Justice Md Miftah Uddin Choudhury and Justice Zafar Ahmed granted the bail after hearing two separate petitions.
The bail was granted to Prof Asif Nazrul for ten weeks in a defamation case, and until the submission of police report in another case under ICT Act.

According to the case statement, Prof Nazrul, in a Facebook post on November 18, had brought allegation of wrongdoing and favouritism against Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan while recruiting dock workers at Chittagong Port.
Later, the two cases were filed against Nazrul in this connection - one by Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan's nephew Syed Asaduzzaman Minar and the other by the minister's cousin Khan Faruk Khan.
