Update : 04 Jan 2018, 01:52 PM
Police have again failed to submit their investigation report into the alleged plot to abduct and kill Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the son of Prime Minister Sheik Hasina. Thursday was the latest date for submission. It is the 28th time police have failed to file the report. Senior Police Commissioner (Ramna Zone) Hassan Arafat is investigating the case. Judge Md Sharifuzzaman Ansari of the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's court set February 4 as the date for submitting the report. “Case IO (investigation officer) Hassan Arafat has missed 28 dates for submitting the probe report of this case since August 3, 2015,” the judge said. According to case documents, pro-BNP intellectual Shafik Rehman met with JaSaS vice-president Mohammad Ullah Mamun’s son Rizve Ahmed Caesar, the then FBI special agent Robert Lustyik, and Lustyik’s friend Johannes Thaler met in the UK, the US and in Bangladesh in 2012 to plot the abduction and murder of Joy. A case was filed in this regard by Detective Branch of Police Inspector Fazlur Rahman on August 3, 2015.This article was first published on Bangla Tribune
