A case was filed against the BNP chairperson and 31 other leaders over a 2015 van torching
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia filed a bail petition with the High Court on Tuesday in a case filed under the Special Powers Act—over the torching of a covered van in Chauddagram upazila, in Comilla, in 2015.
Khaleda's lawyer, Advocate Kaisar Kamal, filed the petition with the High Court’s concerned bench, on behalf of Khaleda.

The petition also sought the cancellation of a Comilla court order that denied her bail plea in the case.
Judge KM Shamsul Alam of the District and Session's Judge Court in Comilla denied her bail in the case earlier on September 13.
A covered van was set on fire at Haiderpool of Chauddagram municipality on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on January 25, 2015.
The following day, Sub-inspector Nuruzzaman of Chauddagram police station filed a case against the BNP Chairperson and 31 of the party’s other leaders and activists over the incident.
