Two of those sentenced to death remain at large
Four people have been sentenced to death for the murder of college student Monir Hossain, in Manikganj.
Another has been sentenced to a life term, while three more have been acquitted.
The verdict was delivered by Manikganj District and Sessions Judge Shahidul Alam Jhinuk around noon on Monday.
The names of those sentenced to death are: Badsha Mia, Lal Mia, Anwar Hossain, and Azgar Chowdhury.
The verdict was delivered in the presence of Badsha and Lal Mia, as the others remain at large.
The murder in question occurred September 10, 2015.
Those sentenced to death were also fined Tk20,000—while the person receiving a sentence of life imprisonment has been fined Tk50,000.
According to the public prosecutor, Abdus Salam, the five convicts kidnapped Monir Hossain, a Class 11 student of a local school, and asked for Tk20 lakh ransom from his family on September 10, 2015. Later, they took the boy on a trawler, tied his limbs, and neck to slabs of concrete they had procured from the ruins of Rana Plaza, and drowned him in the Bongshi river.
