The division bench comprising Justices JBM Hassan and Md Khairul Alam passed the order
The High Court yesterday ordered a five-member committee to fix the fees of medical tests in all public, private hospitals, laboratories and diagnostic centres within the next two months.
The division bench comprising Justices JBM Hassan and Md Khairul Alam passed the order, asking the committee formed by the health ministry to execute it, reports BSS.
Earlier a special committee was formed with joint secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as the convener.
“The court has asked the committee to formulate policy as per ‘The Medical Practice Private Clinics and Laboratories (regulation) Ordinance,1982’ within the next two months.
"The court also set January 9 to file a report on the progress of the order,” said Advocate Dr Bashir Ahmed, who filed the petition in this regard.
Earlier, Shah Alam, a treasurer of Human Rights Lawyers and Securing Environment Society of Bangladesh, filed the writ petition on July 11 seeking a chart of charges of medical tests.
Following the writ, the High Court on July 24 asked authorities concerned to take necessary steps to display price charts of various medical tests in public places of private clinics, hospitals and diagnostic centres within fifteen days.
