The High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Barrister Mainul Hosein for six months in a case filed over defaming journalist Masuda Bhatti at a television talk show in October.
The High Court bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the order, reports UNB.
There is no bar for his release if the government does not create obstacle by showing him arrested in other cases, said Mainul’s lawyer, Advocate Masud Rana.

“With the current one Mainul secured bail in four cases. He faced at least 11 cases,” he added.
Mainul was picked up a DB team from the residence of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rab) President ASM Abdul Rab in the capital’s Uttara on October 22.

He was arrested in a defamation case filed in Rangpur over his verbal abuse of journalist during a talk show.
On October 16, during a television talk show aired in Ekattor TV the former caretaker government adviser called Masuda Bhatti “characterless.”
