Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has underscored the need for allowing journalists to be in courtrooms for transparency of the judiciary.
He made the observation after inaugurating the Law Reporters' Forum (LRF) office in the Supreme Court Bar Association Building on Wednesday.
Sharing his experience at a seminar on journalism, about court premises in Turkey, the chief justice said: "...there was a topic on allowing journalists in the courtroom for transparency of the judiciary.
“So, it is now internationally established that the entry of journalists into courtrooms and court premises will have to be ensured."
Pointing to LRF members, Justice Mahmud said: "I am so pleased to see that you have got a place to sit in."
The chief justice also unveiled the cover of the annual publication of the forum.
