Two convicts are still on the run

Update : 23 May 2019, 02:51 PM

Dhaka Speedy Tribunal 1 has sentenced four people to death for murdering a real-estate broker named Monir Hossain, in Kamrangirchar, and cutting his body into seven pieces.

Judge Abu Jafar Md Kamruzzaman of the tribunal passed the order on Thursday.

The convicts are: Md Anwar Hossain Mollah, Monir's ex-wife Shorna Akhter Kakoli alias Nipa, Md Sharif Matbor, and Md Ibrahim Khalil.

Anwer and Shorna—who are now in jail—were present before the court, however Sharif and Ibrahim are on the run.

On April 17, 2013, the victim—Monir—was called to Nipa's house by the four convicts. He was killed there. Later, to hide their crime, they hacked up the victim's body into seven pieces and dumped the pieces—in a polythene bag—near the Munshihati area.

The victim's first wife lodged a case with the Kamrangirchar police station on April 19th, after police recovered Monir's body.

On 14th May, 2019, police submitted charge sheets regarding the case to court; so, the convicts were later charged.
