Rifat murder: Minni's appeal for treatment rejected

Earlier the same court rejected Minni’s bail petition

Update : 22 Jul 2019, 01:03 PM

A Barguna court has rejected Aysha Siddika Minni’s appeal for seeking treatment while she is being held in connection with the murder of her husband Rifat Sharif.

Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Sirajul Islam Gazi passed the order on Monday after Baruna Bar council general secretary, Advocate Mahbubbul Bari Aslam, filed the appeal on behalf of Minni.

After the hearing, lawyer Mahbubul Bari said: " I have filed two appeals including Minni's treatment. The court rejected both.

"We want to withdraw the confessional statements Minni gave before the court under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Minni's signature is needed on that withdrawal application.”

"Another appeal was for the production warrant (PW) of Minni to produce her before court  for the signature. The court rejected the plea. However, the court said that the jail authority will take necessary measures on the matter."

Earlier on July 21, the same court rejected Minni’s bail petition.

On July 16, police arrested Minni. A court placed her on a five-day remand the following day.

On July 19, a Barguna court recorded the statements of Aysha Siddika Minni in connection with the case filed over the murder of Rifat Sharif, who was hacked to death in broad daylight.

Rifat Sharif was indiscriminately hacked by a group of youths in Barguna in front of Minni on June 26.
