A Dhaka court has granted bail to Barrister Mainul Hosein on health grounds following an undertaking on a Tk5,000 bond agreement.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Tofazzal Hossain passed the order after Barrister Mainul filed another bail petition on Sunday.
On September 3, Barrister Mainul surrendered before the same court and sought bail in a defamation case, which was filed for slandering female journalist Masuda Bhatti on a television talk show.
The court rejected the bail petition and sent him back to jail.
On October 21, 2018, Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Noor issued an arrest warrant against Mainul, hours after the journalist filed a defamation case against him.
