Four fugitive accused have surrendered before a Barguna court in the Rifat murder.

They are Mohaiminul Islam Sifat, Prince Molla, Rakibul Hasan Rifat Hawlader, and Raihan Bond.

They surrendered before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Md Sirajul Islam, around 10:30am on Sunday.

Confirming the matter, prosecution advocate Mostafa Jabbar said the judge sent three of them to juvenile court, while Sifat was sent to jail.

Earlier on October 3, a Barguna court ordered the police to seize the wealth of eight fugitives accused in the murder of local youth Rifat Sharif, while setting October 16 for the next hearing.

Seven other accused in the case, who have been arrested, were produced before the court on the same day, where Rifat’s wife Aysha Siddika Minni, and Arian Hossain, two other accused who are out on bail, were present as well.

Rifat Sharif, who was an internet service provider, was hacked to death on June 26 in Barguna in public, in front of his wife Minni.

The following day, Rifat’s father Dulal Sharif filed a murder case accusing 12 people.

Sabbir Hossain Nayan alias Nayan Bond, the prime accused in the case, was killed in an alleged gunfight with police on July 2.

Minni was arrested on July 16 for her alleged involvement in the fatal attack on Rifat. On August 29, the High Court granted Minni bail on the condition that she would remain in her father’s custody, and would not speak to the media.

Police on September 1 pressed charges against Minni, and 23 others for their alleged involvement in the murder.

Police submitted the charge sheet divided into two segments, one for the 14 juvenile accused, and the other for the 10 adult accused.

Minni’s name was seventh on the list of the adult accused.

She was later arrested as initial evidence pointed to her involvement in the killing.
