One of the accused in the Buet student Abrar Fahad muder case has given his confessional statement before a judicial magistrate.
Ifti Mosharraf Sakal, one of the 19 people accused in the case, gave his confessional statement at the office of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury on Thursday.
Earlier, DB Inspector Md Wahiduzzaman, also the case’s investigation officer, produced Ifti before the magistrate to record his statement.
“After recording his statement, Ifti was sent to jail,” CMM Court General Recording Officer Sub-Inspector Mazharul Islam told Dhaka Tribune.
Meanwhile, 9 others arrested in the case are now on remand.
Abrar, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of the university, was beaten to death by some activists, and leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Buet unit inside the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall on the early hours of Monday.
Some Chhatra League leaders have been accused of beating him to death for his alleged involvement with Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Abrar's father filed a murder case against 19 people at Chawkbazar police station on Monday evening. As of Thursday, 16 people have been detained in connection with the case.
