Police said the detained family members will be handed over to the court
A case has been filed against 10 people over the brutal murder of five-year-old Tuhin Hasan in Derai upazila of Sunamganj district.
Tuhin's mother, Monira Begum, filed the case early Tuesday.
On Sunday, Tuhin’s father, Abdul Basir, found his mutilated body covered in blood around 3am, which was later recovered by the police in the morning.
The murderers left the child’s body hanging from a tree near the family’s house, after stabbing him, slitting his throat, and cutting off his ears and genitals. The killers also left two knives they used to kill him jammed in his abdomen.
Later in the afternoon, police detained seven of Tuhin's family members - his father Abdul Basir, his uncles Mowlana Abdul Mosabbir, Jomshed Mia, Nasir and Zakirul, his aunt Khoyrun Begum and cousin Tania -for questioning.
Office-in-Charge of Derai police station Sub Inspector (SI) Abu Taher Mollah confirmed the matter and said: " The detainees will be handed over to the court today [Monday]."
