Dhanmondi double-murder: 3 sent to jail

On November 4, the case was handed over to DB police for probing

A Dhaka court has sent three people to jail in a case lodged over double-murder in Dhanmondi area in Dhaka recently.

The three accused are- Belayet, Gausul Azam Prince, and Md Atikul Haque Bacchu.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan issued the order after Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Robiul Alam, also Investigation Officer (IO)of the case, produced the accused before the court. 

On November 1, police recovered throat-slit bodies of Afroza Begum, 65, and her domestic help Diti, 18, from flat E-5 of house-21 on road-28 in Dhaka’s Dhanmandi area. 

On November 3, Afroza’s daughter advocate Dilruba Sultana Ruba filed a case against five people with Dhanmandi Police Station.

The five accused are- Housemaid Survi Akter Nahida, Nuruzzaman, Gausul Azam Prince, Md Atikul Haque Bacchu and Belayet Hossain.

On November 4, the case was handed over to DB police for probing.

A team of DB police south zone arrested prime suspect Survi from BNP Bosti area in Dhaka’s Agargaon area at around 6:30pm on the same day.

On November 7, Survi gave confessional statement before court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sorafuzzaman Ansari.
