The trial in the case over the gruesome murder of Rifat Sharif has begun after a Barguna court indicted 10 people, including the victim's wife Ayesha Siddika Minni.
Yesterday, Barguna's District and Sessions Judge Court fixed January 8 for witnesses to testify after framing charges against the adult accused.
The adult accused of the case are Rifat Faraji, 23, Al Kaiyum alias Rabbi Akan, 21, Mohaiminul Islam Sifat, 19, Rezwan Ali Khan Hridoy alias Tiktok Hridoy, 22, Md Hasan, 19, Md Musa, 22, Ayesha Siddika Minni, 19, Rafiul Islam Rabbi, 20, Md Sagar, 19, and Kamrul Hasan Saymun, 21.
Mojibur Haq Kislu, the plaintiff lawyer, confirmed the news and said: "The court has finally framed charges against the 10 adult accused and shall hear testimonies starting from January 8 till February 9.”
On September 1, police submitted two separate charge sheets for adults and juveniles with the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court.
On November 6, Senior Judicial Magistrate Court transferred the charge sheet for the adult accused to the District and Sessions Judge Court.
On June 26, Rifat Sharif, 22, was hacked to death by criminals in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College. He was immediately taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the evening.
On June 27, Rifat's father, Dulal Sharif, filed a case with the Barguna Sadar police station on June 27, accusing 12 people.
