The next day, Rifat's father Dulal Sharif filed a case of murder at Sadar police station.
Police submitted two separate charge sheets against Minni and 23 others, including 10 adults and 14 minors, on September 1.
A Barguna court had indicted the 10 adult accused, including Minni, in the case on January 1.
The trial relating to that charge sheet too got underway on Wednesday, with Rifat’s father testifying at the District and Sessions Judge’s Court in the presence of the accused.
Breaking down in tears, Dulal told the court that he identified his son’s killers, including Sabbir Ahmed Nayan alias Nayan Bond, from the CCTV camera footage recovered by police.
In the first charge sheet for 10 adults, Md Rakibul Hasan alias Rifat Faraji was made the No 1 accused and Minni No 7; and in the second one for 14 minors, Md Rashidul Hasan Rishan alias Rishan Faraji, brother of Rifat Faraji, was made the No 1 accused.
Police, however, dropped the name of the prime accused, Nayan, from the first charge sheet since he was killed in a “gunfight” on July 2.

Public prosecutor Bhuban Chandra Howladar filed an appeal to rescind Minni's bail for intimidating the witnesses on Wednesday.
Earlier on January 1, the court indicted Aysha Siddika Minni and nine adult accused in the case.
Public Prosecutor Bhuban confirmed the news and said: "Minni violated the terms of her bail. On January 4, Minni and few others went to two witnesses' house and asked them not to give their statements during the hearing."
Minni's lawyer Mahbubul Bari Aslam denied the allegations made by the opposition.
