BNP’s mayoral candidate for DNCC had also filed a case against the same people
Ishraque Hossain, who contested in the recent Dhaka city corporation elections, has filed a case against eight officials of Election Commission, accusing them of rigging votes and irregularities during polls.
The case was filed with the court of Dhaka's First Joint District Judge Utpal Bhattacharjee on Tuesday.
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda was also accused in the case along with seven other officials of the commission.
Ishraque contested the city polls as the mayoral candidate of BNP for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) a month ago.
Earlier on Monday, BNP’s mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) had filed a case accusing the same eight people of vote rigging and irregularities during polls.
On February 1, Dhaka city dwellers exercised their voting rights to elect two mayors, Awami League’s Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Atiqul Islam, for the Dhaka South and North city corporations, respectively, for the next five years.
