Golam Rabbani, Registrar General of the High Court, sent the letter to the chief engineer of the PWD in Dhaka on Monday
The High Court has written to the Public Works Department (PWD) asking it to provide logistic support to lower courts as required.
The letter was sent with the aim of developing necessary infrastructure for ensuring compliance with health directives in all lower courts across the country.
Golam Rabbani, Registrar General of the High Court, sent the letter to the chief engineer of the PWD in Dhaka on Monday.
The letter stated that following the Supreme Court’s directive, the subordinate courts (civil and criminal) and the tribunals were conducting judicial activities with the people concerned being physically present. These people were having to maintain the social distancing rules and other directives given by the health department.
To prevent the spread of coronavirus, and to ensure compliance with health directives, it was necessary to take proper initiatives and facilitate the infrastructural development of courtrooms and buildings, the letter added.
