A petition was filed by ACC to show Shahed and others arrested in the embezzlement case
A Dhaka court on Wednesday set August 5 as the hearing date on a petition submitted by the
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to show Mohammad Shahed Karim and others arrested in a case filed over misappropriating about Tk2.71 crore of Farmers Bank Limited.
Judge KM Imrul Kayesh of the Dhaka Senior Special Judge’s Court passed the order after the anti-graft body's Deputy Director Md Shahjahan Miraj, the investigation officer in the case, submitted the petition in court for showing them arrested in the case.
Two other accused are Mahbubul Haque Chisty, former audit committee chairman of Farmers Bank Limited (now Padma Bank Limited), and his son Rashedul Haque Chisty.
The court also set August 16 as the date for a probe report to be submitted on the case.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday filed a case against Mohammad Shahed Karim, Regent Group chairman, Mahbubul Haque Chisty, former chairman of Farmers Bank audit committee, Mahbubul Haque Chisty’s son Rashedul Haque Chisty and Regent Hospital Ltd Managing Director Ibrahim Khalil.
The four of them were involved in misappropriating about Tk2.71 crore in January 2015.
ACC Deputy Assistant Director Md Shahjahan Miraj filed the case against the accused with its Integrated District Office-1 of Dhaka.
On July 22, the ACC filed another case against Regent Group boss Shahed and three others, on allegations of embezzling Tk1.51 crore from NRB Bank.
ACC Assistant Director Sirajul Haque filed the case with its Integrated District Office 1 in Dhaka.
Others who are accused in the case are Regent Hospital Ltd Managing Director Ibrahim Khalil, former principal officer of SME Banking at NRB Bank, Sohanur Rahman, and Vice President of SME Banking at NRB Bank, Wahid Bin Ahmed.
