The High Court has granted six-month bail to suspended jailer Sohel Rana Biswas in a graft case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel passed the order on Sunday after hearing the bail petition virtually.
Advocate Nahid Sultana Juthi stood for Sohel Rana while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan represented the ACC. Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state.
On August 24, Sohel Rana sought bail from the High Court in a money laundering case.
On October 27, 2018, Sohel was arrested with a bag on a Bijoy Express train while he was on the way to his hometown in Mymensingh from Chittagong.
Police recovered fixed deposit receipts (FDRs) worth around Tk2.50 crores, Tk44.43 lakh in cash, and 12 bottles of phensedyl from the bag.
Police later filed two separate cases with Bhairab Railway police station against Sohel under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and Narcotics Control Act.
