Court frames charges against suspended DIG Mizan

Arrest warrant has also been issued against MIzan’s wife and brother

A Dhaka court has framed charges against suspended deputy inspector general (DIG) of Police Mizanur Rahman and three others in a case filed for amassing illegal wealth.

Judge Al-Asad Ashifuzzaman of the Dhaka Special Judge Court 6 framed the charges against the accused in the case on Tuesday.

The court also fixed October 27, for recording deposition of witnesses in the case.

The court also issued warrants to arrest Sohelia Anar Rotna and DIG Mizan’s brother Mahbubur Rahman.

The charges were read out to the accused and they pleaded not guilty.

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Director Monjur Morshed filed the case on June 24 against DIG Mizan, his wife Sohelia Anar Ratna, brother Mahbubur Rahman and nephew and police sub-inspector Mahmudul Hasan for concealing information about wealth of Tk3.7 crore and amassing illegal wealth of Tk3.28 crore.

On January 30, Monjur submitted the charge sheet against the four accused including DIG Mizan.
