There was no allegation of Matiur Rahman's involvement in the case’s investigation report, says the Prothom Alo editor’s counsel

The High Court has adjourned the proceedings against Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman for six months in the case filed over the death of Dhaka Residential Model School and College student Nayeemul Abrar.

The High Court bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Atoar Rahman passed the order on Sunday after the hearing of an application to dismiss the case.

Prothom Alo editor’s counsel Mostafizur Rahman Khan said: “There was no allegation of Matiur Rahman's involvement in the investigation report of the case. He was not even present at the scene. He was not in charge of supervising and managing the program, nor was he involved in power management issues of the event. No witness even mentioned Matiur Rahman's name.

“There is no point in pressing charges against him. It is on these grounds that an application was filed to get the case dismissed.”
