Hearing on acceptance of the case to be held on August 10
An eviction case was filed against Birds Eye Mass Media and Communication Ltd Managing Director and CEO of Gaan Bangla Television Kaushik Hossain Taposh on Sunday, seeking eviction and payment of overdue rent.
Everbest Shipping Agencies Ltd Managing Director Fruber Anwar filed the case against Taposh with Dhaka Joint District Judge Court-1.
Advocate Aslam Miah, who filed the case on behalf of the Everbest Shipping Agencies Ltd, told Dhaka Tribune: “Judge Kazi Mushfiq Mahbub Robin fixed August 10 for the hearing on the acceptance of the case."

According to the case, an agreement between the two parties for renting five floors (from 3rd floor to 6th floor) and parking spaces for four cars at Abeer Tower in Block J of Baridhara, Dhaka had been signed on January 1, 2019.
The monthly rent was fixed at Tk8,50,140 and it was to be paid by the second week of every month, as per the agreement which was to run from January 1, 2019, till December 31, 2020.
The complainant alleged that the Gaan Bangla TV authority did not pay rent on time, and they owed Tk63.32 lakh in rent as of December 2020. The amount of overdue rent currently stands at Tk2.2 crore.
Earlier on June 14, the complainant sent a legal notice requesting that the TV channel authority handover the floors by June 30. However, they did not return possession to the owner, said the case statement.
