Police have moved a Dhaka court seeking 12 days remand for interrogating businessperson Helena Jahangir in two cases.
Court sources said Gulshan and Pallabi police stations filed two remand petitions on Monday to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrates Court.
Inspector Md Yamin Kabir of the Pallabi police on Sunday submitted a plea seeking a seven-day remand in the case filed under the Telecommunications Act.
It is alleged that Helena operated ‘Joyjatra television’ without any government approval.
Inspector Sheikh Shahanur Rahman of the Gulshan police filed a petition seeking five days remand for her in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

The hearing on the remand petition will be held upon completion of her ongoing three-day remand in another case filed with Gulshan police station under the Digital Security Act.
On Friday, a Dhaka court placed Helena on a three-day remand in the case filed under the DSA.
Law enforcers arrested Helena Jahangir during a raid at her Gulshan residence in the capital on Thursday night.
During the raid, RAB seized a huge quantity of liquor, casino equipment, walkie-talkies, and knives from Helena’s residence. After her arrest, RAB also raided the offices of IP television Joyjatra and sealed it off.
Five cases were filed against Helena Jahangir under the Liquor and Narcotics Control Act, Wildlife Protection Act, Special Powers Act, Digital Security Act and Telecommunications Act.
