Babul’s wife Mitu was stabbed and shot dead in broad daylight on June 5, 2016
A Chittagong court on Wednesday rejected the bail petition of former superintendent of police (SP) Babul Akter in a case filed over the murder of his wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu.
Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sheikh Asfakur Rahman passed the order after a hearing.
Earlier on August 10, Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin denied his bail after a virtual hearing of the bail petition filed by Babul Akter's lawyer.
Advocate Ashanul Haque Hema, lawyer of Babul Akter, confirmed the matter to BSS.
On June 5, 2016, Mitu was stabbed and shot dead while she was taking her son to his school bus stop at the port city's GEC intersection.
