Minu and Dulu are also accused of financing and patronizing the banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Rajshahi.

Mosabbirul Islam, legal affairs secretary of the Awami League’s Rajshahi Metropolitan unit, had filed the case at Rajshahi Metropolitan Chief Magistrate's Court 2 on March 16.

According to the case statement, BNP leader Minu publicly threatened Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in his speech during a rally in Rajshahi on March 2.

An application was filed with the Home Ministry on March 9 through the Rajshahi deputy commissioner seeking permission to lodge the sedition case. The application received approval on March 15.

With the ministry's approval, the court took cognizance of the case directly.
