Bail will remain effective until the filing of charges
Actor Pori Moni has secured bail in a narcotics case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge KM Emrul Kayes granted the bail upon a bond of Tk 50,000 after hearing on her bail petition in the case on Tuesday.
She will be on bail in the narcotics case until the probe report or chargesheet or the final report is submitted.
Tuesday was set as the bail hearing date following the High Court’s August 26 rule, asking the lower court concerned to reply as to why it shall not pass an order to hear Pori Moni’s bail within two days of receiving the High Court’s order.
The High Court in its rule also asked as to why it shall not quash the lower court's August 22 order that had set September 13 for holding a hearing on the actor's bail plea in the narcotics case.
Despite getting bail she could not be released on Tuesday as the bail documents did not reach the jail authorities within 6pm, said Kashimpur Central Women’s Jail Super Halima Khatun.
She added that if the bail documents reach the authorities before the accused is sent to the jail then they are released. Pori Moni was not released as no such document reached Kashimpur Jail.
Even if the document reaches the jail on Tuesday night, she will be released on Wednesday morning as per the rules, she furthered.
