Schoolboy arrested over threatening Khadiza hack witness

Kotoali Police have arrested a student of the 7th grade for threatening a girl who witnessed the vicious assault on Khadiza.

The juvenile delinquent is one Jasim or Pagoil village in Shiberbazar under Sylhet sadar upazila.

Police raided the village on Friday night and arrested Jasim.

Kotoali ACP Nurul Huda Ashrafi told the Dhaka Tribune that Sanjida Akhter Nahid, a 2nd year student at Sylhet Government Women's College received a number of threatening phone calls on Wednesday night.

Assistant Professor Zillur Rahman of the college said that Sanjida's family came forward with her witness testimony and that this led to the threats.

Sanjida's family had filed a GD with the police and she was accorded police protection when she sat for her exams on Thursday.

Khadiza is now on life support in ICU in Square Hospital. Doctors say that her condition has improved.

Meanwhile Badrul is in police custody.
