Mother arrested after killing child in Ashulia

The infanticide occurred on Monday morning in Palashbari in Ashulia. Police and locals told the Dhaka Tribune that Yanur lived with her son and second husband Shahjahan Fakir. They went to bed on Sunday night but Rabiul pleaded to stay awake. Reportedly, the child's pleas enraged the mother who proceeded to beat him. At one point, she throttled him till he passed out. He was later taken to Public Health Social College and Hospital where the doctor on call declared him dead. Ashulia police responded to the incident and collected the child's body from the hospital. OC Mohsinul Kader said: “The body has been sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy. We have also arrested Yanur from the spot as well. A murder case has been filed with us.”
