Police file case against BNP leader over Ashulia unrest

“Dr Salauddin has been named as the prime accused,” Ashulia police Officer-in-Charge Mohsinul Kadir told the Dhaka Tribune. Around 80 unnamed people and fifteen named people were shown accused in the case including the Savar upazila Acting Chairman Mini Akter Urmi and seven worker leaders, he added.

Ashulia police Sub-Inspector Mohidul filed the case on Thursday. On December 12, workers from 4-5 RMG factories in Savar started protesting on wage hikes other benefits. The protest was joined by workers from around 50 more neighbouring factories. In response, the factory owners have shut down their factories indefinitely citing labour laws.
