Sharif Ahmed of Maynamati Bazar in Burichong of Comilla was apprehended at the airport following a tip-off on Wednesday morning.
"Sharif arrived in Dhaka on a Malindo Airlines flight OD162 from Malaysia around 12am," said Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Director General, Moinul Khan.
"Acting on a tip-off, Customs officials kept eye on Sharif and challenged him as his movement was deemed suspicious."

Moinul confirmed the gold recovery to the Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday morning.
"The officials later detected three packets filled with gold bars after an X-ray," the DG added.

A customs official said each of the 12 gold bars weighs 100 grams.
It is not the first time that human mules have been detained at Dhaka airport; gold bars were recovered from the rectums of passengers on May 13 and October 17 last year.
