
Police recovered the decomposed body of Tajul Islam, 7 a class-I student at Bhulota Government Primary School from a pond near Golakandail area of Rupganj upazila, around 1am Tuesday.
Tajul's family members alleged that the kidnappers killed Tajul for an unpaid ransom of Tk45,000.
Quoting family, Bhulota police outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Faizur Rahman said that a neighbour Shujon along with few other miscreants abducted Tajul from his neighbourhood around 9pm on Friday. Later, the kidnappers called Tajul's father Abdul Awul and demanded a ransom of tk50,000.
Abdul Awul could only sent a ransom of Tk5000 on bKash but Tk45,000 was on due.
Faizur also said: “After getting the complaint of abduction, we arrested Sujon.”
“We later recovered Tajul's body from the pond according to the information given by Shujon.”
“During primary interrogation, Shujon admitted about strangling Tajul to death on Sunday,” the SI added.
Father of the victim filed a murder case against the kidnappers.
Bhulta police outpost Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Alam said: “Shujon has been taken on remand and the other accused will be arrested soon.”
