The accused, assistant Professor Muslim Sardar Mishu, also allegedly threatened one of his colleagues with life.
The complaints were submitted to the college principal on February 11. They also met with the district’s superintendent of police on Wednesday, alleging that the accused had been threatening them for filing complaints.
One of the victims in her complaint said that Mishu tried to violate her after she had been forced to go to his house.
“He [Mishu] asked me to meet him at his house after threatening to circulate some photos which were taken earlier during a programme on social media,” the victim said in the letter. On that day, he had her drink some coffee mixed with sedatives or beer, and tried to rape her.
She also accused the teacher of using abusive words, and making indecent proposals repeatedly through Facebook.
Another complainant alleges that Mishu asked her to meet him at his residence on January 23 on an urgent basis, saying that two of her classmates had already been there.
As soon as she entered the house, Mishu shut the door and proposed her right away to make physical relation.
He even offered her money. But as she refused the proposal, the teacher assaulted her sexually.
At one point, she screamed seeking help and a neighbour came to her rescue. The teacher threatened her not to disclose the matter to anybody.
The third victim also said that the teacher had forced her to go to his house saying that he would post her “morphed” images online.
When contacted, college Principal ASM Delwar Hossain said that they had formed a committee on February 18 to look into the allegations, asking it to submit a report in seven working days.
Meanwhile, Mehedi Hasan, assistant professor of the same department, filed a general diary with Chandpur model police station on February 12 alleging that Mishu had threatened him for “compelling the students to complain formally.”
Officer-in-Charge Wali Ullah of the police station said that they were investigating the matter.
The accused could not be reached over the phone despite repeated attempts.
Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, secretary of the teachers’ council of the college, said that filing of complaints of sexual harassment against a teacher was unusual, but “Mishu must face the music, if found guilty.”
