
Five of them – all teenagers – were handed over to the Hili Immigration Centre officials around 11:30am Saturday.
Hili police OC Aftab Hossain said that the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members had detained the teenagers on October 27, 2015 and sent them to a juvenile correction centre through court, reports our Hili correspondent.
The four others were brought back home Friday afternoon through travel permit, Benapole police said. They went to India illegally for better job, but were arrested by Delhi police and kept in jail through the court, our Benapole correspondent reports.
Benapole police OC Iqbal Ahmed said that the four people would be handed over to their families after completing formalities.
Meanwhile, Border Guard Bangladesh members detained 18 people including nine children and five women from Benapole’s Putkhali border area for trying to enter India without valid documents.
They were held from Chorer Math area of Putkhali in a drive conducted Friday night on a tip-off.
Benapole port police OC Apurba Hassan said that the detainees had been handed over to the police station. They would be produced before court.
