Customs Intelligence has detained a man carrying 3.5kg of gold worth Tk1.75cr inside the lining of his pants from Dhaka airport.
Md Adom Ali, 46, a domestic flight passenger, was detained with 30 gold bars when he arrived at the airport from Muscat via Chittagong on a Biman Bangladesh flight on Monday.
The detainee is a resident of Chittagong’s Fatikchhari upazila.
Confirming the matter, Customs Intelligence DG Dr Moinul Khan said: “Acting on a tip-off, we brought him to the airport’s customs hall and found the gold bars hidden in the lining of his pants.”
