Youth gets life for murdering wife

A court in Narail handed down life-term rigorous imprisonment to a youth named Faruq Sheikh for murdering his wife in 2014. District and Sessions Judge Abul Bashar Munshi gave the judgment on Wednesday in presence of Faruq, also fining him Tk2,000. In default, he will have to serve three more months in jail. Faruq, now 30, of the district's Kalia upazila, strangled his wife Mitali Begum to death inside their house on March 28, 2014. He physically tortured Mitali several times ever since their wedlock, the case statement said. Nine prosecution witnesses testified in the case.
