
Sixteen men, posing as members of the Detective Branch (DB), have been arrested in Dhaka with weapons and other equipment used by law-enforcement officials.
Two DB teams nabbed them from Rampura and Ramna on Saturday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Yusuf Ali told the media.
Nine members of a fraud gang were arrested from Rampura Banasree around 1:10am when they were preparing for a robbery, Yusuf said.
A foreign pistol, a magazine, bullets, a walkie-talkie, sharp weapon, a stick, two handcuff, three DB jackets, a bag and two DB stickers were recovered.
The DB officials also seized a car and a microbus the miscreants used during the robberies.
Yusuf identified the frauds as Md Juwel Rana, Md Yeasin, Md Badol, Md Momen Ali, Md Shohedul Islam, Md Firoz, Sayed Moniruzaman, Md Ali and Md Shujon.

Meanwhile, another DB team conducted a drive and arrested seven people from in front of Bangabandhu Convention Centre around 6:25am.
ADC Yusuf said the frauds posed as DB members and were involved robbery and mugging.
Two toy pistols, handcuffs, a pair of boots, 17 prepaid mobile SIM cards, a walkie-talkie, seven mobile sets, an army jacket, three pen-drives, a car nameplate, a stick, police monogram and an empty ID card cover were recovered from them.
The DB team has also seized the Toyota microbus the miscreants were using.
Yusuf identified the arrestees as Md Liton Khan, Md Babul Mia, Akash, two individuals named Md Monir Hossain, Md Saydur Rahman, Mahmudul Hossain, Munna and Md Afzal Hossain.
