Kidnappers of IFIC Bank official Shamim Ahmed has released him five days after he was abducted from Paltan area in Dhaka.
The kidnappers blindfolded Shamim and left him near Motijheel on Monday night.
Shahmim’s wife Shilpi told the Bangla Tribune that her husband called her up from an unknown number around 9:30pm and asked her to send a car to Motijheel.
Later, Shilpi went to the spot and picked him up. They are currently staying at a house of their relative in Dhaka.
She said: “Shamim is in good health.”
Paltan police station Sub-Inspector Saidul Islam said: “They family members informed us about it. We still do not know who the kidnappers are.
“We are investigating the matter.”
Shamim was abducted from in front of Paltan’s Khana Basmati restaurant around 1:40pm on August 23. He was picked up in a white microbus.
Later that day, Shilpi filed a general diary with Paltan police station.
