BCL leader beaten to death

Update : 05 Sep 2017, 12:16 AM
A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League has been killed in an attack in Dhaka’s Shekhertek area under Adabor police station. The deceased has been identified as Moshiur Rahman Mosu, environment and social service affairs secretary of Chhatra League's Adabor unit. Adabor police station Inspector (investigation) Aminul Islam said the attack took place around 10pm on Sunday in Shekhertek’s Road 10. Miscreants attacked him and his head was bashed in with heavy object. “After the incident was reported, we rushed to the spot and took Moshiur to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctors pronounced him dead. We have names of some of the men involved in the murder and are preparing to arrest them.” According to the locals, Moshiur rode his motorcycle to the area when some men attacked him with thick rods and sticks. Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Moshiur’s father Julhash Dewan said Moshiur had an argument with Ledu Hasan, a Savar Jubo Dal leader, and his cohorts Molla Sawpan, Sagar, Selim, Tapan and a few others. He further alleged that the argument was over the fact that Moshiur did not allow Ledu and his associates to push yaba business in the area. “They had had similar arguments over this in the past. Because Moshiur was influential in the area and had a lot of followers, the arguments never spiralled into violence,” Julhash said. “However, Moshiur wanted to apologise to Ledu as he did not want to disrespect his elders. Moshiur asked Sohel, a man from Savar, to help him reconcile with Ledu. Later, Sohel called Moshiur on Sunday night and said Ledu wanted to resolve the matter. “Moshiur left home on his motorbike to meet Ledu in Shekhertek area, where Ledu was already waiting with his cohorts. When Moshiur approached Ledu to apologise they viciously beat him to death.”
