Update : 05 Sep 2017, 02:37 AM
A woman stabbed her husband to death early on Monday at Barabagh in Mirpur area, Dhaka. The deceased, Shahin, 45, was killed by his first wife Aklima for what police suspect was a crime of passion. He was a mason from Dargapur upazila in Satkhira district. Mirpur police station OC Nazrul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune that they recovered his body upon information and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for a postmortem examination. The OC further added that Shahin’s second wife Rokhsana was also injured during the attack and has been admitted to a hospital. “Aklima has been working in the Middle East as domestic help for years. She sent most of her earning to her husband who squandered it on gambling and women. She returned last year to find most of her earnings were gone. “Two months ago, Shahin married another woman named Rokhsana and moved to Barabagh in Mirpur,” said the OC. Aklima is currently on the run and has yet to be located. “We are currently working to file a case against Aklima,” said OC Nazrul, adding that police were actively searching for her. In another incident on Thursday, police recovered the body of an unidentified 28-year-old man from Gulshan lake in Gudarghat, Badda in the morning. The body has been sent to DMCH for a postmortem examination, police said. Badda police station OC MA Jalil told the Dhaka Tribune: “We have not been able to identify the deceased as of yet.”
