3 Indians detained with 17 gold bars at Benapole

Customs Intelligence officials have detained three Indian nationals and recovered 17 gold bars in Benapole district. The arrestees are Dhiman Sarkar (39), Nitish Singh (26) and Moheshlal Shah (29). They were detained around 10pm on Monday. Dhiman Sarkar is the son of Dhiren Nath Sarkar of Kolkata's West Bengal's Gaurisharail village. Nitish Singh is the son of Dhirendra Singh of Baranagar village in Kolkata's north 24 Parganas. Mahesh Lal Shah is the son of Birju Lal Shah of Mala Para area of Chandan Nagar thana of Hooghly district. Assistant Revenue Officer of Customs Intelligence Idris Ali said: "Acting on a tip-off, we arrested the three Indian nationals after they went through customs and immigration and were on their way to India. "We recovered 17 gold bars of various sizes from their possession during interrogation." Deputy Comissioner of Benapole's Customs Intelligence Abdus Sadek said the detainees were sent to Benapole port police station after interrogation.
