
A central BNP leader has been arrested from Dhaka’s Tejgaon in connection with the attack on a police prison van near the High Court area.
Police arrested Assistant Organizing Secretary of BNP Central Committee Masukur Rahman Mashuk on Sunday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Devdas Bhattacharya confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: "Mashuk has been arrested in the case filed for snatching of two party activists from a prison van and attacking the police."
On Friday, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s Advisory Council Member Amanullah Aman and National Executive Committee Member Nazimuddin Alam from Aman’s home in Dhaka’s Mohakhali DOHS area.
Earlier that day, police had also arrested BNP Training Affairs Secretary ABM Mosharraf Hossain from Uttara.

A group of BNP leaders and activists had stormed a police prison van and snatched away two detained fellows during a demonstration near the High Court when Khaleda was returning home after attending the hearing in another graft case last Tuesday.
The case over the incident was filed at Ramna police station afterwards.

On Thursday, RAB also arrested BNP’s Forest and Environment Affairs Assistant Secretary Kazi Rawnaqul Islam Tipu from Shahbagh for his alleged involvement in Tuesday’s attack on police.
The BNP has claimed that the law enforcement agencies have arrested around 500 leaders and activists, including Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Aassistant Organizing Secretary Aninda Islam Amit and Information Affairs Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, since Tuesday over the attack.
