
Police have arrested BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu from Dhaka's Segunbagicha area.
He was arrested around 12:17pm on Monday in a case filed with Ramna police station over the insolate incidents on the day of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Orphanage Trust case verdict.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ramna division Deputy Commissioner Maruf Hossain Sarder confirmed about the arrest to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said three cases were filed with Ramna police station while two were filed with Shahbagh police station over the insolate incidents centering the verdict on February 8.
"Dudu has been arrested in one of the cases filed with Ramna police," he added.
Earlier in the day, several hundred BNP leaders and followers formed the human chain in front of the National Press Club amid tight security.
On February 8, a special court convicted Khaleda and sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
