Three robbers killed in ‘gunfight’ with RAB in Dhamrai
Three robbers have been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with RAB on Tuesday afternoon, in Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka. The incident took place in the North Kelia Area of Dhamrai. At that time three foreign pistols, 2 knives, 1 chapati knife, and a bomb wrapped in polythene, were recovered from the spot. A bomb disposal team has already gone to the scene to dispose the bomb. One deceased robber, Rashid, 42, has been identified. He was a resident of Daulatpur in Manikganj. RAB-2 Commanding Officer Lt Col Anwaruzzaman has confirmed the incident. He said: “An NGO called SHOJAG of the Shoilan area of Shombagh union, sent their men to make a TK64 lakh bank deposit . The robbers on four motorbikes were lying in wait in North Kelia to rob the money. “Acting on a tip from their source, a RAB team went to the scene and that was when the robbers attacked them and started firing. The RAB men return fire,” Anwar said. “Three robbers died on the spot during the exchange and four others fled the scenario,” Anwar added. The dead bodies were sent to the Upazila Health Complex. The duty doctor, Sabbir Ahmed, said “The three robbers died before being brought to the hospital. There were bullet wounds on the front of their bodies.” RAB has said their Sub-Inspector, Razzak, and Assistant Sub-Inspector, Shohel, were also injured in the ‘gunfight.’
